Tell every buyer, in person or through a separately established channel, that the agency will never rely on an emailed account change. Give them the agency’s independently published number and name the team or role authorised to confirm details.
Before payment, the buyer should call that trusted number and read the full BSB and account number aloud. The agency representative reads it back and records the check. If the supposed agent discourages a call, changes the callback number or invokes urgency, the buyer stops.
Vericode can add a separate agency-side caller check alongside this buyer procedure. Staff highlight a phone number already visible in a browser-based CRM, portal or email client, right-click and send a one-time SMS code through MobileMessage using the ACMA-registered sender ID VERICODE. The caller reads it back. Each check is logged with who requested it, the masked target number, its time, method and outcome. Authorised-contact register events also form a per-contact hash chain.
That check does not validate bank ownership or recover money, and it does not replace dual approval, mailbox security or a trusted callback. Its narrow job is to test possession of a known contact point before the agency accepts an instruction or discloses information.
